Brixton Shed was established as a Chicken Shed outreach project in September 2004. It is unique and pioneering for Lambeth as it is an Inclusive Theatre Company. This means that our doors are open to every child in the area, our focus being on enabling children who would not usually be part of a theatre group, for reasons perhaps such as disability or social background, to become an

equal member in the work that we do. The workshops are run inclusively with emphasis on cultivating the Children's own creativity and working together as equals. There is no audition process as we believe every child has an invaluable gift to offer the company.

Brixton Shed itself is run by our Management Committee, our weekly workshops are designed and run by our Artistic Director Amani and Group Adminstrator Martine, who in turn are supported by a team of volunteer practitioners. We very much work as a creative team all sharing ideas and helping each other. At the end of each evening we all really feel we have achieved something for everyone. The workshops can be intense but are always fun, do require a lot from everyone - but it is well worth it.

Currently we are working on a Heritage Lottery Funded project called Brixton Voices. [See tab]. This will culminate in an amazing and informative show to be held on 1 st July 2008 . Everyone is very welcome to come along, please contact Martine on: brixtonshed@hotmail.co.uk or 07758 642233 for further details.
